Free Meals For Anaconda School District

The Anaconda School District is implementing the USDA waiver that offers all students free meals for the 2020-21 school year.  This is something we took advantage of when we had to do remote learning last spring.  President Trump has recently extended this program which has allowed our district the opportunity to provide these meals at no cost to families.  As a district, we felt this was critical for students as well as families during this pandemic.  It changes some of the guidelines the district has to follow at the state level; however, the benefit to families far outweighs the work on the district’s behalf.  We always want to work with and help our families in any way we can.  We understand that parents have had to adjust their schedules to be with their kids when they should be in school oftentimes leading to a loss in compensation.  We understand that COIVD-19 is here to stay for some time and that we are going to have to continue to pivot with the educational plan on a days’ notice at times. This was one small thing that will have a large impact for all families across our district and we are happy to be able to do this for them.  Those ages 0-18 are eligible for these free meals.  If there are any questions please feel free to contact any of our building administrators.

Respectfully,

Justin Barnes
