Preventing the "Summer Slide"
Preventing summer slide is doable! Practicing reading and math facts can make all the difference in the fall!
Here are some resources that your child can do during the summer!
The Association of Library Service to Children has compiled suggested reading lists for different grades.
Students can log into Ed Ready-a free math program provided by OPI
3-6th grade students can still access their IXL accounts and practice math and language.
Students also have access to their current Learning Ally account. If your student doesn't have an account, email firstname.lastname@example.org and she will set you up!
Khan Academy is another great resource for math.
The Hearst Free library also has a summer reading program available with activities and prizes for reading.
Bookopolis is a great closed social media website to get kids writing about books they are reading! Our 5th and 6th graders already have accounts, but if your child is younger, then you can create an account for them. Bookoplis has compiled reading lists and contests to help kids keep reading this summer.
