Pick up and Drop off

Where should I drop my child off?

  • Each grade is assigned a different door to enter from.  This helps us spread students out and keep social distance.

Will use the appropriate Grade Level Door.

***3rd grade will be picked up and dropped off at the Commons for the first week of school

Mrs. Bloom's class will meet at the Veteran's Memorial on Main Street.

Mrs. Flynn's class will meet at the bandstand area on Fourth Street.

Mr. Tesson/Ms. Huber's class will meet at the brick entrance on Third Street.  

 

Where should I pick up my child?

  • Students will be dismissed from the doors they came in.  The exception will be bus students who will be using the Third Street West doors and the Cherry Street door.  Bus students will be dismissed at a separate time from walkers to ensure social distancing.  

 

What time does school start?

  • School will start at 8:20 AM.  Doors will open at 8:00 AM.  Please do not drop students off before 8:00 AM. 

 

What time does school end?

  • The school day will end at 2:20 PM Monday through Thursday.

  • Friday (and other early out days) will end at 1:20 PM.

  • Students are not allowed to play on the playground or hang out after school.

  • We will not have after school activities for the first two weeks of school and will reassess frequently.

Breakfast and Lunch

Will breakfast be served?

  • Breakfast will be served in the classroom beginning at 8:30.  We will take breakfast count and provide breakfast to those students who "ordered" it.   

 

Can my child bring a sack lunch?

  • Yes, students can still bring sack lunches.  

  • Teachers will still take lunch count and we will provide lunches to the students who "ordered" it.  

 

Are microwaves accessible to students at lunch?

  • Microwaves will not be available to students at lunchtime.

 

Will hot lunch be served?

  • Yes, hot lunch will be served in the classrooms.

 

Does every student receive free breakfast and lunch?

  • No, students (who do not qualify for free or reduced) will pay for breakfast and lunch at FMIS and AJSHS.

 

Band & Orchestra

Will these classes still be offered?

  • Yes, both band and orchestra will be offered. We will be offering basic music classes to all third to sixth graders at this time. Mr. Fehr and Mrs. Lorengo will set up after hour zoom meetings for orchestra and band. 

Supplies

What supplies are needed this year?

  • Two notebooks, loose-leaf paper, pens, pencils, and colored pencils.

  • A backpack and lunch box, as needed.

  • Kleenex and disinfectant wipes, if you’re able to purchase.

  • Students will have a pencil box with supplies on their desk provided by the school. Each student will have their own headphones, whiteboard, and school supplies kept on their desks. These will be labeled. 

  • Lockers will be used, starting the third week of school.

  • If you need help with supplies, please check out The Little Red School House.

 

Are masks provided for students?

  • If a student or staff member arrives without a mask we will provide one for them.

Masks

Are students required to wear masks?

  • Yes, all students are required to wear masks, per the Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Health Department.  Exceptions will be through the school nurse and those students will be expected to wear face shields.

  • Masks must be worn at all times with the expectation of meal times.  If a child forgets a mask, the school will have extra masks for students to wear for the day.  

 

Are masks provided masks for students?

  • If a student or staff member arrives without a mask we will provide one for them.

 

Do students need to wear a mask on the bus?

  • Yes, students are expected to wear masks on the bus.  If masks are forgotten, there will be masks available to students.  Temperatures will be taken on the bus

 

Class time

What is a pod?

  • A pod is the group of children who will be spending the day together.  They will eat breakfast, learn, eat lunch, and go to recess together. 

  • Pods will help minimize students contact with others.  

 

Technology

I heard students will be provided with Chromebooks, is that true?  

  • All students will be one on one with Chromebooks. If you are a remote learner and you are in need of a Chromebook we will provide one for you.

Opening & Re-closing schools

What happens if schools close again?

  • If we go into red phase three we will all be remote with Chromebooks on google classroom.

What happens if there is a case of COVID in a classroom?

  • If there is a case of COVID in a POD the POD will go remote learning. We will follow all county health plans.
